 Americans visiting Scandinavia
Since its beginning in 1972, Friends Overseas has offered a unique approach
to international travel...whether one is traveling alone or with another
person, whether independently or as part of a tour group. Based on
person-to-person contacts, Friends Overseas makes it possible for American
tourists (families, couples and single persons) to meet Scandinavians who
share similar interests.
Most Americans traveling abroad have long known that, despite their eagerness
to meet some of the locals on a personal basis, the only people they ever get
to see are hotel clerks, tour guides, salespersons, waiters and other
tourists.
As a member of Friends Overseas, you will receive the names/contact
information of several of our Scandinavian members. You are then expected to
write briefly (letter or e-mail) to each member, giving the dates you will be
in their city. Our Scandinavian members in Denmark, Finland, Norway and
Sweden have expressed an interest in meeting American tourists to help make
their visit more enjoyable by introducing them to their cities, their
families, and their friends.
